Wakefield Community Centre wins Kraft Contest of $25,000Toronto, ON (July 21, 2010) – Wakefield, Quebec has been named the seventh winning community in the Kraft Celebration Tour. As part of the Kraft Celebration Tour, Wakefield hosts a special edition of SPORTS CENTRE with anchors Darren Dutchyshen and Jennifer Hedger when they broadcast live from the Quebec community on Thursday, Aug. 26 at 6 p.m. ET on TSN. Joining SPORTSCENTRE in Wakefield is Canada's top-rated daily French-language sportscast, SPORTS 30 on RDS, hosted by Chantal Machabée and Marc Labrecque. Wakefield also receives a $25,000 community refresh from Kraft Canada that goes towards completing facilities at the new Wakefield Community Centre. Located approximately 20 minutes from Ottawa on the western shore of the Gatineau River, Wakefield is a small village in the Outaouais region of Quebec with a population of 1,000. Members of four community groups in Wakefield came together to raise funds for the construction of the new Wakefield Community Centre, which will be used for sports, arts and cultural events. Wakefield joins Bay Roberts, NL; Port Dover, ON; Pictou, NS; Pinawa, MB; Abrams Village, PE; and Outlook, SK, as one of the 10 winning communities in the Kraft Celebration Tour. Wakefield was named to the tour after winning a national head-to-head online vote over the community of Beauceville, QC. Canadians can decide the other winning communities for the Kraft Celebration Tour. One pair of communities is featured per day through July 23, and Canadians can visit www.TSN.ca/kraftcelebrationtour or www.RDS.ca/tourneedecelebrationkraft to vote for their favourite Kraft Celebration Tour nominations. Voting is unlimited and runs from 12 noon ET each day for a 24-hour period. During the voting period, SPORTSCENTRE on TSN and SPORTS 30 on RDS highlight the day's featured match-up with a look at the dueling communities and their proposed community refreshes. Results of each vote will be announced the following day on SPORTSCENTRE and SPORTS 30.
